Save Girl Child
Gender discrimination is a cyclical issue that plagues many communities:
1. In many cases, girls are not allowed to attend school beyond the 5th grade (in 60% of cases) or continue their education after the 10th grade (in 90% of cases).
2. Consequently, parents often send their dropout daughters to work in fields under landlords.
3. When these girls reach puberty (around 13-15 years old), parents often arrange child marriages, viewing their daughters as a burden. These girls are then forced to give birth immediately after getting married, often at the ages of 16-17.
4. Due to stricter medical regulations, doctors are no longer revealing the gender of fetuses. As a result, young married girls continue giving birth until they have a son.
5. On average, families end up with 3 children, usually comprising two girls and one boy. These girls are typically denied further education, with their schooling usually ending after the 5th grade, or in rare cases, the 7th grade, after which they are married off.
6. If the husband dies (which is common due to high rates of alcoholism leading to liver damage), the parents and mothers-in-law often do not allow the widows to stay in their homes. These women are also frequently not permitted to work. If they do find employment, they are at risk of exploitation by men in the workplace. Some end up in human trafficking, seeking money to support their children or a man's protection for their families. This cycle continues as they send their daughters up to the 5th grade, awaiting their entry into puberty for further child marriages.
To stop this Gender discrimination cycle we should
1. Raise awareness about girls' rights and women's rights (legally).
2. Promote education for girl children (as it will change the fate of the coming generation).
3. Empower women and girls (to rescue them from discrimination and improve the future of their children).
