RURAL ACTION IN SOCIAL EMANCIPATION

7 water purifier systems, 7 first aid kits and awareness programs on hygiene for 7 schools
Supported by: Castricum Helpt Muttathara
Year: 2019
The aim of the project is to improve the health and well-being of rural school children in Venkatachalam Mandal by addressing hygienic issues and ensuring access to clean drinking water. With over 50 schools in the area, many rely on water sources provided by the local panchayat or nearby houses, but the quality of the water has not been properly studied, leading to potential contamination and health risks, especially during the rainy season.
To address this, the project focus on one school initially, conducted bacteriological analysis on the water before and after it was purified by a water purifier. An awareness meeting on safe drinking water was held at the school, and a poster explaining the use and maintenance of the water purifier was displayed prominently. Additionally, the school staff received training on how to maintain the water purifier on a day-to-day basis.
Furthermore, the school took ownership of the water purifier and cover the costs associated with its maintenance. This community-based approach ensures the sustainability of the project and fosters a sense of responsibility among the school administration.
